The 2018 vintage: a warm one!
We picked our first grapes on August 28th, only 90 days after flowering!
Those 90 dry and (sometimes very) warm days brought a beautiful maturity across the vineyard. Our grands crus of Avize and Cramant received a little more water (since May, Avize has received 210 mm compared to 170 mm for Vertus). The grass in the tracks is yellow but our vines are not suffering thanks to their deep roots reaching water dozens of meters deep in the chalky soil.
The conditions are perfectly healthy with a sunny weather forecast. We can take our time and stay serene. We harvested the earliest parcels and then had a break for a few days. We are now harvesting our old vines of Cramant.
The 2018 harvest is generous but without excess. This is the result of our daily efforts to control yields, searching for this density and this beautiful balance that we love!
