2017 : a sunny vintage
The south of the Côte des Blancs miraculously spared!
After a sunny and dry season, the harvest was early. We started on September 4th and finished on the 12th under the sun with some fall freshness already. The harvest was quite short, the quantity is modest due to the April frost. The must are good, with no rot, high degrees, nice acidity and great concentration.
The Côte des Blancs, in particular the south (Vertus and its surroundings), has been spared by the late August rains and thunderstorms which made a lot of damage in Champagne.
For now, all our barrels and casks are fermenting, aromas in the winery are enchanting. We are at the dawn of a great vintage at Larmandier-Bernier. We got lucky, now we must be up to it !
